A 1957 recording of a Union Pacific Big Boy by Howard Fogg. Larger UP steam classes, such as the FEF's, Big Boys, and Challengers were installed with store-bought long-bell 3 chime 'steamboat' whistles crafted by Hancock Inspirator Co., distributed by Manning, Maxwell and Moore of New York. This particular whistle sound comes from Big Boy #4011, which was in operation in the final years of steam on the Union Pacific.
