Trurcks NW 48ft 8-Axle Tender

The Norfolk & Western received 31 tenders from the Atlantic Cost Line Railroad for use with its fleet of 2-8-8-2s. The trucks for these tender had four axles with a 36-inch diameter wheels. They were 48-feet long, had a 27-ton coal capacity and carried 24,000 gallons of water. The Norfolk & Western shops added a brakemen’s doghouse to each tender.
