SJ S1 1912 sway

The S1 type loco became Sweden's last built steam locomotive manufactured during 1952-1953. NOHAB made all 20 of them (SJ No. 1910-1929).
Maximum speed was set to 80 km/h and the pulling force to 8.1 Mp.
The S1 locos that were assigned for southern Sweden were among others in the passenger traffic on the routes
Halmstad-Nässjö, Borås_-Alvesta and Falköping-Landeryd. They could also be seen in express traffic
between Borås and Karlskrona. However, the number of S1 locomotive was too large in Borås (9 pcs) so in the beginning of the 60's
5 S1 locos were moved to Malmö for passenger traffic between Malmö-Ystad-Simrishamn. S1 locomotives even pulled freight trains.
S1 1912 was during its entire running time stationed in Borås traffic district and was withdrawn in 1966. Scrapped in Kalmar 1974.
Today, there are five pieces of S1 locos preserved: 1914(SKJ), 1916?(Germany), 1921 (SÅS), 1923 (JVM) and 1928?(England)


S1 blev Sveriges sista tillverkade ånglok år 1953.
NOHAB tog fram 20 stycken (SJ nr 1910-1929).
Största tillåtna hastighet sattes till 80 km/t och dragkraften till 8,1 Mp.
De S1-or som blev tilldelade södra Sverige sattes bl.a in i persontågs trafik på linjerna
Halmstad-Nässjö, Borås-Alvesta och Falköping-Landeryd. De kunde också ses i snälltågs trafik
mellan Borås och Karlskrona. Dock var antalet S1 lok för stort i Borås (9 st) så i början av 60-talet
flyttades 5 S1-or till Malmö för persontågs trafik bl.a mellan Malmö-Ystad-Simrishamn. S1 loken
drog även godståg här.
S1 1912 var under hela sin driftstid stationerad inom Borås trafik
distrikt och avställdes 1966. Skrotades i Kalmar 1974.
Idag finns 5 stycken S1-or bevarade: 1914(SkJ), 1916? (Tyskland), 1921(SÅS), 1923 (JVM) och 1928? (England)
