North Carolina Amtrak Piedmont Preview
This train set is supposed to represent RNCX/NCDOT/Amtrak 1792, 'The City of Raleigh'. Built in Raleigh, NC in 1996, the GP40PH-2 along with 1768 hauled freight until the Piedmont became a passenger route. In 2001, 1768 was sold to VRE, leaving only 1792 to be the one and only GP40PH-2 in NCDOT's locomotive roster until 2010, when it was involved in a collision with a careless lowrider truck hauling an excavator. This resulted in 1792 reaching the end of her line after 14 years of service. This preview sho
