Central Railroad of New Jersey operated 30 RS3's, #1540-1559 for commuter service and 1700-1709 for freight service. They acquired nine more ex-Reading units, #1533-1535, and 1562-1566, plus a former Central of Georgia unit, #1560. #1561 for an ex-SP&S RS2.
