RS3 Central New York 101
Delaware Otsego acquired their second freight railroad in 1973 when EL petitioned to abandon their 22-mile Richfield Springs Branch. It was named Central New York Railroad. They operated the line with ex-D&H 4088, an RS3. This is the Alco RS3 Road Switcher. The RS3 is powered by the 12 cylinder 244 Prime Mover giving 1600 Horse Power. The RS3 was produced by Alco during the years 1950 to 1956. This is the second most popular Alco engine produced with 1,418 units made during the production run. Modeled for use in TrainZ by Mark Hoffman.
