Chicago & Eastern Illinois O-2 2-10-2 2007 tender
Chicago & Eastern Illinois had ordered seven class O-1 2-10-2's to handle long coal trains out of southern Illinois and Indiana. The mines played out rather early, so C&EI struggled to find work for these heavy, hard-on-the-track engines. Meanwhile, the USRA in its infinite wisdom decided to send C&EI 5 lighter, slower 2-10-2's. C&EI predictably refused them, claiming they were too heavy. They were allegedly reassigned to PRR, though PRR didn't operate any light 2-10-2's. Chicago & Western Indiand did operate five light 2-10-2's, however, so they may have been reassigned there. Tender for USRA Light 2-10-2.
Coal: 16 tons
