GP38 Chessie C&O 4825

C&O owned 60 GP38's, #3850-3899, and 4820-4829. Most received Chessie colors. There were a few variations over the years. C&O units sported both black numbers on white number boards (unusual for Chessie units) and illuminated (transparent) block numbers on a black background. Most units eventually received a slot in the battery boxes to allow for the battery terminals to be sprayed clean more easily. Also, Cumberland Shops (B&O) and Huntington Shops (C&O) located the Ches-C on the nose differently, the former placing it several inches into the orange while the latter placed it with several inches of yellow above before the orange band began.
