Swansea and Mumbles

This Tramway ran 14 of the largest double deck trams ever run in the UK. They carried 100 seated and 150 standing passengers and were often coupled in pairs (and were seen on a few occasions in threes for moving football crowds)! They ran from Rutland Street Swansea, South Wales, to Mumbles Pier (a distance of about 5 miles) on almost exclusively private right of way. The line closed in 1960. It has been modelled from the few photos and track plans that exist and is approx one third of the scale length.
