QR 2300Class

The 2300 class were introduced in 1997 and are an upgrade of QR's 1550 and 2400 class locomotives. Their power has been increased from 1119kW to 1850kW, and the engine upgraded from a EMD 12-645E to an EMD 12-645E3C. These locomotives are mainly used throughout Brisbane and Southern parts of Queensland. The turbo chargers emit a whistling sound when idling.
