CIE D4 No.309

No.309 was built by Neilson, Reid & Co in Glasgow in 1903, originally a Great Southern and Western Railway 309 Class Locomotive but became part of the Great Southern Railway in 1925 as they joined up with other railway companies(except the Great Northern Railway). While owned by the GSR, most D Class engines were rebuilt with similiar Belpaire Boilers, this made most D Class engines look the same. No.309 was fitted with a Belpaire Boiler in 1935 at inchicore but was slightly different to the Belpaire Boliers that were fitted to other 309 Class Engines that were given a D10 Class .In 1945 the GSR became Coras Iompair Eireann as they joined up with the Dublin United Transport Company. The D4 Class were used for Mixed Traffic Duties. A Reskin of Jayhollands B4x Class. Interchangeable headlamp codes - see readme.txt for instructions.
