DSER Black XVIII No.53 Duke of Abercorn
After the Dublin, Wicklow and Wexford Railway reached Waterford the name of the railway was changed to Dublin and South Eastern Railway in 1907. They also thought it was best to repaint their engines in a new black livery and later remove their names. Engine Type XVIII was built by the Sharp, Stewart & Co in Glasgow in 1893. The XVIII engines were specifcally designed to pull Mail Trains from Kingstown(Now Dun Laoghaire) to the Great Southern and Western Railway Station Kingsbridge(Now Dublin Hueston) so that mail could be delivered across the GS&WR Network.
