GSR J28 No.299
Shamrock was built by Hunslet in 1892 and was bought by TH Falkiner as a contractor's locomotive and went on to construct the Kenmare and Clifden Branchlines before being sold to the Tralee and Fenit Pier and Harbour Commisioners in 1899 to shunt wagons on Fenit Pier. In 1901, the Great Southern and Western Railway bought the Waterford, Limerick and Western Railway who owned the Tralee-Fenit railway and so the GSWR bought Shamrock to go with the purchase. Shamrock lost its name but was numbered 299 and continued to operate at Fenit Pier. In 1941, due to lack of traffic because of wartime shortages, No. 299 was moved to Limerick and later Cork Rocksavage for use pulling beet trains on the Courtmacsherry Branch throughout CIE until withdrawn in 1957.
