Formely a Dublin and South Eastern Railway Locomotive No.4 but was renumbered when amalgamated into the Great Southern Railways in 1925. Originally a 0-6-2T engine built by Kitson & Co in Leeds in 1897 and designed for small goods trains for Wexford-Waterford services and had to weigh less in order to pull trains up the incline between New Ross and Palace East so a scecification for the XX engines to weigh 60t 13cwt but Kitson suppled them with the weight of 62t 4cwt and after an incident of frequent derailing in the GS&WR North Wall Yard, the engines were sent to be weighed at Inchicore. They weighed 64t 8cwt, 2t over what Kitson had quoted, as a result was stationed at Harcourt St and were later rebuilt at the DSER Works at Grand Canal Street, Dublin in 1908 as a 0-6-0 tender engine, in 1925 became part of GSR and then in 1945 became part of CIE.
