SAR Centenary Car
SAR 327 Series Second class end loading carriage
Cars such as these were built in the early 1900's by J S Bagshaw and Sons Ltd; Pengelley and Coy; and the SAR Islington Workshops for use on steam hauled services. During the late 60's they were later fitted with electro-pneumatic braking for use between pairs of 300 Class railcars, and renumbered in the 820 series. They were finally withdrawn from service in 1978.
SteamRanger maintains and operates preserved examples of these among other ex-SAR cars for it's Encounter Bay tours.
Many thanks to AndyN for his help with the interior and bogie details; and also with testing.
