WeddinNSW V6: 1963, The Boorowa Br
The Boorowa Branch is the latest extension to WeddinNSW. Its is based (with permission, and thanks) on a refurbishment of P.Gibbons 2005 'Boorowa Branch' route.
Opened in 1915, and closed in 1987, the Boorowa Branch ran for 18 miles from the junction with the Main South at Galong. For most of its life three mixed trains ran a week, on Tuesday's, Thursdays and Saturdays. For a brief period in the 1940's these tri-weekly mixed services were supplemented by a rail car service on the other days. In 1924 diversion and duplication of the main south line saw the original Galong station relocated. For WeddinNSW the 'pre-deviation' track remains in place as per P.Gibbon's original concept, for use as a tourist railway.
At the start of this session the 'Boorowa Mixed' and 'Blayney Railcar' services wait at Harden for their connection with the down 'Riverina Express'. In 1963 the Boorowa Branch still receives reasonable patronage, supplying commodites and passenger facilities to the town, and shipping out wool, grain and livestock.
This session runs as a 'Lineside' demonstration session. There are many trains active at any one time, all driven by AI drivers. Watch them at work, either through the lineside cameras (press '3'), or the onboard cameras (press '1'). To see what is happening elsewhere on the route you can also swap the view from one train to another by holding down the [Ctrl] key, and pressing a numeric key from 1 to 7.
The session ends on return of the 'Boorowa Mixed' to Harden.
Approx run time: 3hr 30 min
