This route has been created to join two seperate existing routes.

William 'Grizzly' Adams (fictionall) was a mountain man contacted by railroad suveyors to help them find a pass through the rugged Rocky Mountains.

When the survey and construction was completed, the RR named the pass after their rugged mountain man who helped accomplish this act.

Ole 'Griz' was really humbled and later said that he was very honored to have his name associated with his work.
