AA RS1

ALCO RS-1, built from 1941 to 1957,first light road switcher bast on a S-2 switcher with a longer frame a short hood and type B bogeys. 1,000 hp. 607 made for US, 64 for Mexico. An optional steam heater could be put in the short hood. Later models moved the brake wheel to the short hood side rail. This one is one of two made for the Ann Arbor Railroad witch was under Wabash control from 1925 to 1962, D.T.& I. control from 1962 to 1974 when Conrail ran it until 1977 when M.I.R.C. became the operator during witch #21 was scraped and #20 was donated to a museum. At lest 5 paint jobs are known. The raised front head light is only found on the A.A.R.R. RS-1s.
