And yet another ambitious layout, once again traced by basemapz for Trainz Model Railroad 2017. This one is highly based upon Arnie Hall's HO scale masterpiece, The Belfast & Vinehaven HO scale route. Also featuring the HOn3 Narrow Gauge Portland and Mystic Line. First appearing in the June '94 Model Railroader magazine as a mere NG logging layout, Arnie took the time to further expand and improve upon it throughout the years, adding scenic New England coastlines, waterfronts, and little villages into the mix. Also included are a variety of beautifully and painstakingly detailed buildings, a whole slew of interesting characters, and even picnic tables with individual HO scale food and condiments! In fact, it is said that if anyone had extra keen vision, they could even see some finely detailed HO scale ants marching about!
And of course, I took the liberty of tracing the map... Yes yes, I know, this is NOT the most perfect reproduction of the B&VH, but still, the only thing that matters is it's that good-lookin'. It manages to capture that wonderful New England sense and aroma, doesn't it? Should be perfect for New Haven, Rutland, Boston & Maine and Boston & Albany transition-era equipment.
