Level 3 for CMTM introduction. Port Hiawatha Yard

You are still excited. Looks like you impressed Fox a bit. Hauling down your lunch you observe trains passing by, dropping off cars, picking up cars. Most of them are pulled from yellow UP engines of various types. 'Port Hiawatha Yard he said' you suddenly hear mumbling to yourself. You heard of it that it is big and busy but never been there yourself. And it belongs to Norfolk Southern. However, Fox said it's a slow day, so it's probably a good time to get into it.
You finish your lunch and return to Fox's shunter loco. Strangely, it is powered down. You peek inside and see quite a mess of newspapers, books, operation manuals. They seem to be all in an old and shabby condition, a sign that they have been used intensely. And then you feel a warm hand on your shoulder. 'Ahh, there you are.' Fox' voice sounds. Heavily blushing you turn around and look into a broardly grinning face. 'Come, we have to drive a bit. But with a car!' He laughs heavily and you silently follow him to a Chevy that looks as old as him. 'This car still drives?' you ask. 'I hope so' he shortly replies as he tries to start it the fifth time and finally seems to run steady. 'Old trusty engine. And I can fix it with a hammer, if I need to.' 'And as noisy as your shunter!' you fire back. You both burst out in laughter. 'I like you, lad!' And the car moves on.

'Ah, in case you wonder, we always exchange our newbies with other companies if they are worth it. Even if each railroad operates by it's own rules and on their own track, it's an integrated system after all. And usually a customer doesn't care which railroad transports what segment of the trip - he only wants to have it delivered reliably in time. And cheap, of course. So railworks need to work together.
The guys at Norfolk Southern have a nice place there. They work as a big interchange yard connecting the south west corner to Mikapolis. If other railroads don't have enough cars to make trains long enough to be an economic haul or lack trackage rights, they bring cars here and the NS guys sort and forward them. Hiawatha connects to Eagle City via 2 routes, to us and short line service in the harbor area. I will show you once we are there. Now relax and enjoy the ride.'
