Spirit of Progress State Car

The Spirit of Progress commenced operations on 23-Nov-1937 This train first ran to the victorian border where it met with the Sydney express and passengers changed trains. The train was steam hauled by a magnificent blue streamlined locomotive. It extended its run as a through service to sydney and was eventually drawn by diesel power. Its last run was on 3-aug-1986. The state car was used for royal visits and visiting Heads of State
