Generic Turntable
A 115 foot diameter 32-track standard guage turntable with concrete pit and apron. This turntable is modeled after the Norfolk & Western prototype constructed at Williamson, WV in 1926 - and still in operation today. The prototype turntable is non-balancing, which means that the load does not have to be centered on the bridge - the weight of the load always being distributed equally between the endpoints of the bridge by counterbalancing mechanisms. The bridge motors could turn the heaviest N&W locomotive and tender to any feeder track within 90 seconds of initiation of bridge rotation.
