North Tahoe Narrow Gauge Mason Bogie #25 'Carson

Bought by the NTNG in the late 1880's, 'Carson' was primarily a passenger engine. It was numbered 23 at the time, and was bought to take the bulk of passenger work along with a Brooks mogul, leaving the 18 geared engines to handle the heavy logging trains. By the turn of the century, however, she was no longer needed when logging dwindled and the other engines could take the passenger trains. She worked at odd jobs over the next two decades before being moved to the 'out of service' siding. Carson saw her last run in 1939, when every operational engine was steamed for the final day. Afterwards, she was placed on display at the old millsite in Incline Village, NV for the next 3 years. She was scrapped for the war effort in 1942.
