V & T loco no 19(Truckee) ca 1870's
Virginia & Truckee No. 19(Truckee) as she appeared in the 1870's.
'Truckee' was one of four near identical engines ordered from the Baldwin Locomotive Works between 1874 and 1876 for the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. In her initial run, H. M. Yeringtion reported she could pull 8 full cars up to Virginia City and he hoped to increase the load to nine. By 1892 she was no longer needed, and in 1901 she was sold to the Verdi Lumber Co. for $4,000 and renamed Roberts. She was scrapped in San Francisco in the late '20s.
Thanks to Andrew Brandon, Craig Hoefer and Curtis Reid for their expertise and help in creating the model.
