D&RG Class 56 1884

1879 Baldwin built for the Denver & Rio Grande Railway of Colorado. Used for freight and mixed traffic, displaced from primary service by the larger Class 60 and 70 locomotives of the 1880s. 36-inch drivers, driver wheelbase 11 feet 4 inches, total wheelbase 17 feet 8 inches. This version is based on a photo of 73 taken in Monarch, CO in 1884.
