LTR&T 13

1882 Baldwin originally ordered for the Connotton Valley Railroad of Ohio in 1881, but completed for the South Pacific Coast Railroad of California the following year. SPC 13 was the only 10-24E3 built to burn wood, and the SPC quickly replaced the grate and smokestack to better serve the purpose. Converted to oil in the 1890s, transferred to SP when the line standard gauged in 1906. It may not have been used by SP, as photos dated after that time show it still in SPC territory. In 1915 it was sold to the Lake Tahoe Railway & Navigation Company to work hauling logs from Ward Creek. It returned to the SP in 1926 when they leased that road, and was again out of work due to gauge widening. Scrapped 1927 in Sacramento. Used 36-inch drivers, driver wheelbase 11 feet 4 inches, total wheelbase 17 feet 8 inches. This represents the engine as running on LTR&T. No photos of this period are online, so it follows the details of the 1909 SPC version.
