RS3 P&N 101 v1

Alco-GE RS-3 Road Switcher

Modeled for use in TrainZ by Mark Hoffman (gumbytrain).

The Piedmont & Northern Railway began converting from electric to diesel motive power in 1950, placing a 10-unit order with the American Locomotive Company. The first two units (Nos. 100 and 101) were delivered to the company's Greenville, South Carolina shops that fall -- lettered and numbered, but lacking the characteristic P&N logo, yellow hood striping, and black-and-white striped pilots which they later acquired.

Model: Alco RS-3
Period Produced: 5/1950 to 8/1956
Engine: Alco 244, air- or water-cooled turbocharged
Cylinders: 12 @ 9x10.5
Rating: 1600hp

Thanks to Mark for his great model and much appreciated assistance.
