Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad
'The Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad' is a terrain generated map of the 'The Pittsburgh Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad'. The Pittsburgh, Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad Company was founded in 1897 by Andrew Carnegie to haul iron ore and other products from the port at Conneaut, Ohio on the Great Lakes to Carnegie Steel Company plants in Pittsburgh and the surrounding region. The railroad connected with the Union Railroad at N.Bessemer PA, which hauled the ore and products to the Monongahela River Valley steel companies near Pittsburgh. There are no 'Tiger Lines' shown, but small signs, indicating the location of towns, have been placed along the tracks so that conditions in those areas, (Multiple track, yards, roads ,waterways, etc.) can be accessed using USGS topo maps. The map has 150 miles of track, 1150 baseboards, and covers 444 sq miles. A TrainzMap of the route is available in the content folder. Open the file in Contant Manager, click on 'Edit in Explorer', and look for the 'B&LE RR TRainzMap.jpg'
