Welcome to the Cumberland Railroad, a fictional island located 14 miles southwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Cumberland is not a Canadian region; it is a country-inspired with U.S. and Canadian landscapes depicted as a New England-like nation almost twice the size of Connecticut with a diamond shape look.

The Cumberland Railroad is a fictional company that serves as a freight hauling and passenger service that operates steam, diesel, and electric locomotives. The railroad has over 567 miles of track routes from northwest of Mockingbird, through Cumberland Station in downtown depicted on Dallas and Denver, to the south-southwest of the large coastal town of Port Jock. Cumberland Railroad is the largest and only operating rail system in the country.

It began its rail service in 1883, with the 21-mile route from Cumberland to the northwest of Banshee. The Cumberland Railroad continued expanding more rail lines, scattering miles of track around the island until the early 1930s when the Great Depression forced its rail service to suspend its operation. It was not until 1939, when the world went to war in Europe after Nazi-Germany invaded Poland, and the Cumberland railroad began to step up. Though Cumberland did not participate throughout the war, the government and the Cumberland Railroad sent some troops to Canada and Britain to support the war effort, eventually winning the Battle of Europe in 1945.

After the war, the Cumberland Railroad again gained its prosperity as before. However, it almost went bankrupt in 1958 when passenger and freight services declined due to automobile and airline travel. But in late 1958, at the last second, a local businessman bought the Cumberland Railroad and saved it from bankruptcy. Today, fewer passenger and freight services still run the railroad, with steam, diesel, and electric locomotives inactive around Cumberland.

Can you help bring the Cumberland Railroad back to life and return to its former success?

Here, you'll place and drive any train from Downtown Cumberland to the coastal town of Baliey Bay, about 143 miles of tracks southeast. The line runs through four towns at each stop, across various farmlands, curve around steep hills, access five tunnels, over four bridges, and pass by a coastal run towards the end of the line. And, you can work around in the railyard to sort out freight cars and passenger cars for the train's next journey.
