ARG XW Hopper 2000+

The XW class were the first modern grain hopper built for WA, the first entering service in 1972. 205 were built between then and 1981, followed by another 60 in 1983-84 to an improved design. When improved XWA wagons first appeared in 1983, a programme began to upgrade the 205 earlier XW class to this standard. A variety of other class codes were also applied to these wagons over subsequent years. 45 were converted to standard gauge in 2011 for use in NSW as AGWF class. All others were stored due to the loss of CBH grain transport in late 2012, and were sold for scrap in June 2014.
