Metrovick Cab Early

An interior for an early Metrovick D5700 series, with curved cab front side windows, a 1200hp mixed traffic diesel electric locomotive built by Metropolitan-Vickers in 1958 in answer to British Railways Type 2 specification, from the modernisation program of 1955. This interesting locomotive was designed with the unusual Co-Bo axle arrangement to provide the required tractive effort and axle loading, whilst giving it a low overall weight. Twenty locomotives were built, all powered by a Crossley HSTV8 two stroke diesel engine.
