EBT_Aughwick_Concrete_Bridge_2
Original by Ben Dorsey. Rail replacement by Nick Ozorak.
This is based on the bridge that replaced the span built in 1873 known as the lower
Aughwick Bridge on the East Broad Top Railroad. This bridge was built somewhere between
1914 and 1917 (depending on the source) and is said to be the first prestressed (steel
reinforced) railroad bridge in America though this claim is frequently challenged. It
received a battering by hurricane Fran in 1996 but is in quite sound despite its current
look.
