SW7 Erie Northern 118

Erie Northern's veteran SW7 is a Paintshed reskin based on the Auran model.

Locomotive information:

In 1939, General Motors Electro Motive Division came out with their new 567 cubic-inch power unit. The first locomotive to use the new engine was the SW1, a six-cylinder, 600 horsepower model, which would remain in service until 1953.

In October 1949, the SW7 model, a 12-cylinder, 1200 horsepower version was announced, and 493 units were constructed before the introduction of the SW9 in Jan. 1951.

In 1954 EMD announced an improved power unit, the 567C, and which powered the 600hp SW600, 900hp SW900, and the 1200hp SW1200, using 6, 8 and 12 cylinder configurations respectively. Production of the 567 ceased in 1966, with the introduction of the 645cid engine, which powered the later SW1000, SW1500 and their derivatives plus the GP38 and GP40.
