CLMW SW7

Built between October 1949 and January 1951, the Electro-Motive Division SW7 is a 1,200 horsepower diesel electric end cab switcher locomotive. Over five hundred were built between the base SW7 model as well as the TR4 cow-calf variant. Most were built at EMD plant number 3 in Cleveland, Ohio. As such, it was a short trip to a new home when the Cleveland, Lorain and Midwestern purchased a batch in 1949 as their first (and only) generation switchers. Serving as both yard power and light road switchers, the SW7s made themselves at home on the railroad, performing admirably in their assigned duties.
