The Queensland Railways C17 class
4-8-0 branch line locomotive was introduced
in 1920 and 227 were built up to 1953. 143
were built to the 1920 design and the
remainder to a 1938 design with a better cab,
different tender and different crosshead.
This model is of the 1920 design and has been
based on two locos at the Rosewood Railway
Museum - No 720 currently under restoration
and No 763 which is stored and from which
parts have been used in the restoration
of No 720. No 763 was built by Walkers of
Marybrough and entered service in 1927.
Other 'old style' C17 locomotives are in
service on the Mary Valley Railway.
This model uses the cow catcher, turbo
generator and whistle from Auran's PB15 738.
The main texture has also been adapted from
Auran's PB15 as have the leading bogie wheels.
The texture for the driving rods was inspired
by Marl's 38 class. The rest is by Jacob
and Greg Cash.
